The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held an informal meeting in the city of Almaty on March 29 link.
The delegations of the two countries thoroughly discussed issues of consistently strengthening Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan good neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance relations.
At the beginning of the conversation, the heads of state warmly congratulated each other and the brotherly peoples on the spring holiday of Navruz and the upcoming Ramadan holiday.
The enhancement of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to a high level was noted with special satisfaction. Active dialogues are being maintained at all levels. The volume of trade exchange has increased by 14 percent since the beginning of the year, forming a portfolio of investment projects worth more than 4 billion dollars, with inter-regional relations and cultural-humanitarian exchanges developing.
The heads of state listened to the reports on measures being considered by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to increase mutual trade, and to advance cooperation projects of leading enterprises in key sectors such as machinery, electrical engineering, oil and gas, textiles, agriculture, and others.
The Presidents gave specific instructions to formulate a long-term program on industrial cooperation and to accelerate regional significance infrastructure projects.
The importance of starting practical work on launching the International Industrial Cooperation Center this year and expanding the activities of the joint foreign trade company was noted.
Regional agenda, including the preparation for the Central Asia summits to be held in Uzbekistan in the coming months, was discussed.
The plan for upcoming bilateral and multilateral events was also reviewed.
The meeting was conducted in the always friendly and businesslike atmosphere.
