"Milliy Tiklanish" party leader Alisher Qodirov announced that a legislative proposal focused on strengthening responsibility for insulting, disparaging, and defaming individuals in the information space is being prepared.

"Freedom is a vital necessity, without which development is impossible. However, freedom has its conditions: transparency, responsibility, and accountability. In the information space, insults, disparagement, and defamation should be equated to serious crimes and be severely punished.

Those who sow the seeds of enmity and hide behind the word "people" are becoming more numerous. However, Article 10 of the Constitution clearly defines who is granted the right to speak on behalf of the people. Everyone else should speak on their own behalf, engage in discussions, debates and be responsible for their words and actions," - wrote Alisher Qodirov.

According to him, a worrying practice has recently emerged: learning to coordinate and direct individuals with the wrong perceptions and thoughts on the internet for narrow business and governance interests.

"The law must stop such manipulators, regardless of who they are, and take strict measures (I recommend watching the "Zero Day" series). Such media projects can eventually become an uncontrollable creature that primarily destroys the lives of its creators and then thousands of young and old, ordinary people. Didn’t the crisis in Ukraine serve as a clear example?" - wrote Qodirov.

He added that the internet is not only a source of income but also a platform for expressing personal opinions, which is undoubtedly one of the most beneficial discoveries of our time.

"However, freedom cannot be used as a mask for impunity in vulgarity that violates norms of order and culture. Any frivolity in such instances must be strictly controlled," - the deputy concluded.
