Uzbekistan Rises 25 Positions in Economic Complexity Ranking

In the latest ranking based on 2023 results, published by the "Growth Lab" center, Uzbekistan ranked 80th out of 145 countries.

According to the results of 2023 announced by the "Growth Lab" center at Harvard University, Uzbekistan ranked 80th among 145 countries. This means the country has risen by 25 positions over the past five years.

According to the ranking, Uzbekistan’s exports have increased by an average of 20.5% annually, which is one of the highest rates in the region. Over the past five years, 67 new products have been added to the export portfolio, generating $2.1 billion in revenue. This has provided an average benefit of $59 per capita.

The most significant growth was observed in the export of transport equipment (89%), industrial machinery (77%), and electrical engineering products (59%).

For comparison: Turkey is ranked 44th, Vietnam 53rd, Kazakhstan 84th (down 6 positions), Russia 94th, Tajikistan 124th (up 5 positions), and Turkmenistan 126th (down 12 positions).

According to Harvard analysts, Uzbekistan is currently considered competitive in the global market with 162 types of products. By 2033, the country's economy is expected to grow by an average of 5.6% annually — the second highest forecast in the world.
