Can the war in Ukraine end? US leader Donald Trump believes this. He noted on his "Truth Social" platform that an agreement between Russia and Ukraine could be reached in the coming days.
"I hope that Russia and Ukraine will sign a contract this week. Then both of them will start doing big business with the United States," he wrote.
Trump's statement resonated against the backdrop of Russia's short-term truce announced before Easter. On April 12, President Vladimir Putin ordered a ceasefire from 6:00 a.m. on April 19.
Putin called on Kyiv to do the same. However, this truce ended within a few days, and through Dmitry Peskov, it was stated that Russia had no intention of extending it.
