US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a short, 15-minute meeting in the Vatican.

The newspaper "Delo" called the meeting "a decisive date for achieving peace for Ukraine and Europe."

The Rheinische Post, however, suggested that the photos of the meeting might have been staged by Trump, but nevertheless, it was noted that the meeting provided "a reason for hope."

The publication also recalled that Trump previously supported Putin's position, but now he can change his position in his own interests.

The newspaper "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger" assessed the Vatican meeting as symbolic and noted that this conversation, held in ordinary chairs, gave hope amid political conflicts.

However, the Bild publication took a cautious approach. According to the newspaper, although Trump expressed a negative opinion about Russia after the meeting, he may not provide military aid to Ukraine, but only limit himself to financial sanctions.

Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, however, does not believe that the US will play a leading role in peace negotiations. According to the publication, the obligation to "stop Putin" will now fall on the new governments of Europe and Germany.
