Uzbekistan has achieved another important breakthrough in the field of open data. According to the updated indicators published for 2024 in the international rating "Open Data Inventory" (ODIN), Uzbekistan ranked 12th among 198 countries, scoring 83 points. With this result, the country maintained its first place in Central Asia.

What is the "ODIN" rating?

The "Open Data Inventory" (ODIN) rating assesses the level of openness and coverage of official statistical data. When compiling the rating, the openness of the data to users, the format in which it is presented, and the completeness of the data are taken into account.

What caused the growth?

In 2023, Uzbekistan ranked 30th with 70 points. That is, the country rose 18 positions within a year. The main reasons for such a large skate are:

- Publication of data by region, industry, and year;

- Presentation of data for the last 5-10 years in dynamic series;

- Communicating indicators at the regional and district levels to the public;

- Open data enriched with metadata;

- The ability to download files in various formats.

SIAT - a new statistical platform

The SIAT (Integrated Statistical Information System), developed and operated by the National Statistical Committee, played a significant role in this achievement. Today, more than 2,900 indicators in Uzbek, Russian, and English, in five different formats, are provided free of charge through this platform.

Open Data Watch positively assessed the capabilities of the SIAT system, which contributed to Uzbekistan's high ranking in the "ODIN" rating.

Results of Uzbekistan in recent years:

- 2017: 167th out of 180 countries (18 points)

 - 2018: 168th out of 178 countries (19 points)

- 2020: 44th out of 187 countries (63 points)

 - 2022: 40th out of 192 countries (66 points)

 - 2023: 30th among 195 countries (70 points)

 - 2024: 12th place among 198 countries (83 points)

This growth is the result of reforms aimed at increasing the openness and transparency of statistical data in recent years.
