According to the results of joint research by scientists from Russia and Finland, humanity could face a new minor ice age within the next 40 years. This information was reported based on an article published in the scientific journal “Geosciences” by zamon.uz here.
The research was conducted by specialists from the Russian Academy of Sciences' Kola Science Centre and the Natural Resources Institute of Finland. The scientists deeply studied the 7600-year chronology of tree rings and analyzed Earth's climate cycles using artificial intelligence. According to their calculations, there is a high probability that a global cooling period could begin between 2063–2073.
The experts link the main reasons for this process to a decrease in solar activity and an increase in volcanic activity. Solar processes have a significant impact on global temperature. In particular, a reduction in sunspots decreases the amount of energy reaching the Earth's atmosphere.
This factor, which temporarily slows down the global warming process, could lead to new climate problems for humanity in the long term. Ice ages recur in the Earth's history every 300–400 years, and this is seen as the next phase.
