On May 7 of this year, US Air and Marine Operations (AMO) personnel detained four Uzbek nationals attempting to illegally enter Vieques Island.
According to reports, the unit inspected a boat carrying seven passengers attempting to enter Vieques Island. Three of the passengers were US citizens. The remaining four, three men and one woman, turned out to be citizens of Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek nationals did not have any documents allowing them entry or stay in the US.
Customs officers detained the four Uzbeks for processing their immigration and deportation.
Initial information indicates that this vessel had embarked from St. John Island in the US Virgin Islands.
