“According to Bloomberg, Russian President Vladimir Putin, before his talks with US President Donald Trump, claims dominance on the front line and is trying to fully capture four regions of Ukraine by the end of 2025 – rendering peace negotiations futile.”

“Putin believes his army will be able to break through the Ukrainian defense line by the end of the year, taking full control of the regions Russia is trying to annex… This simply means Putin will not offer Trump any significant concessions when the two leaders talk,”— reported in Bloomberg publication.

The publication writes that Trump is eager to end the full-scale war quickly and is rushing to negotiate a peace agreement. On the other hand, Putin does not show any signs indicating an intention to halt hostilities – the Russian army continues to advance without any stops.

Sources close to the Kremlin told Bloomberg that Putin is ready for a protracted war if necessary to achieve his goals, indicating that talks of peace don't affect him. He is also unconcerned about the new US sanctions Trump has been threatening to implement. Putin only understands violence and force, but no one yet has the capability or the willingness to demonstrate power.

However, Putin's confidence in his battlefield achievements contradicts Western evaluations. According to European officials, after more than four years of intense conflict, Russia has suffered significant losses, leaving Putin with insufficient means to achieve his objectives.

“This doubt is also widespread among the Russian Armed Forces, according to a person close to the Ministry of Defense in the city of Vladimir, Ukraine's drone forces are making large-scale attacks on Russia costly and inefficient,”— Bloomberg wrote.
