Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, announced that he would personally initiate the process of making amendments to the Constitution if the Constitutional Court does not approve the peace agreement with Azerbaijan. He stated this during his speech at the "Yerevan Dialogue" international forum, which was broadcasted on YouTube in his statement.
Pashinyan emphasized in his words that "the peace process cannot be lost," and promised to convince the Armenian society of the necessity of constitutional reforms.
Furthermore, Pashinyan proposed to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan and at the same time to address the OSCE to dissolve the structures of the Minsk Group.
Previously, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia outlined the main obstacles for signing the agreement between the two countries.
In the panel discussion at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, the foreign minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, highlighted the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and amendments to the Armenian Constitution as the main obstacles to the peace agreement. According to him, resolving these issues could create a real opportunity for signing the agreement.
Also, according to the foreign minister of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, today's main task is to determine when and where the peace agreement will be signed. He assessed this as the initial stage of establishing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan in his evaluation.
