Since the beginning of the year, Uzbekistan has stopped the illegal importation of nearly 40 kg of jewelry. The State Customs Committee reported this.
It is noted that several attempts to illegally import jewelry at the "Tashkent International Airport" border customs post of the Tashkent-AERO specialized customs complex have been exposed. A passenger flying from Bangkok was stopped while trying to smuggle in jewelry weighing 121 grams with a preliminary value of more than 180 million UZS hidden among sweets in his luggage.
A citizen of a neighboring country, after completing the "Tashkent-Istanbul" flight, was exposed while trying to smuggle in jewelry weighing 370 grams with a value of 350 million UZS hidden among his luggage.
Among passengers from Baku, a person trying to smuggle across customs controls gold ornaments decorated with precious stones was identified. This passenger, a citizen of a neighboring country, was caught trying to illegally bring in 74 grams of jewelry decorated with diamonds, valued at nearly 130 million UZS.
It is reported that customs examinations regarding the above cases are ongoing.
According to the numbers, during the past period of this year, customs officers have identified 252 cases of customs violations, where nearly 40 kg of jewelry, valued at 24.3 billion UZS, was illegally transported across customs borders and involved in internal hidden turnover.
