Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that the country could join the European Union's "Readiness-2030" program by July 1st. According to him, Canada's allocation of a large portion of its military spending to the US is a strategically incorrect decision.

Former US President Donald Trump stated that negotiations are underway with Canada to join the "Golden Dome" air defense system. Trump believes that if Canada becomes the US's "51st state," it could join the system for free.

Currently, Canada allocates 1.37 percent of its GDP to defense. This is lower than the 2% threshold set by the European Union. Carney emphasized that the increase in expenses is inevitable, but will be carried out taking into account the interests of Canada.
