Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the president of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-myung, on his election to this position. This was reported by the president's press service here.
The head of state expressed confidence in his letter that under the leadership of Lee Jae-myung, Korea's intellectual and economic power will grow further, and its international reputation and influence will be strengthened.
"We pay special attention to elevating our friendly and comprehensive relations with the Republic of Korea to a new level. I am confident that, during your presidency, our special strategic partnership relations will rapidly develop in all priority areas," the letter states.
The president invited Lee Jae-myung to visit Uzbekistan at a convenient time, with the aim of further strengthening the multifaceted and long-term relations between the two countries.
In the elections held on June 3, the opposition "People's Power" party candidate Lee Jae-myung was elected as the new president of South Korea with 49.42% of the votes. He promised to ensure security through dialogue with the DPRK, as well as to reform labor legislation. He had also run in the previous election but was defeated.
The 61-year-old Lee also promises to reform labor legislation, specifically to shorten the workweek, implement tax deductions for parents based on the number of children, and raise the retirement age.
