According to the announced tender conditions, the Geological Service under the U.S. State Department is looking for contractors to implement two projects in Uzbekistan.
The first one – "Analysis of Uzbekistan's surface waters and snow cover" and it involves creating a digital information database on this topic. It is said that the project is "aimed at assessing the risk of mudflow".
The second project — is focused on studying the sources of replenishment of the Kashkadarya river, and the seasonal dynamics of the process.
According to the document, these two projects are "aimed at enhancing the scientific-technical potential of the Uzbekistan government in assessing water resources".
In Central Asia, the water resources issue is very acute and the United States can use this situation as part of its strategy to restrain Russia and China, gaining a new "political influence lever" in the region, said Vladimir Bruter, an expert at the International Institute of Humanitarian and Political Research, in an interview with RT.
