Protests against the deportation of illegal immigrants are intensifying in the US, reports "Zamon.uz".
According to Defense Secretary Pete Hegset, the National Guard will be deployed to Los Angeles to control the unrest. If necessary, marines can also be mobilized.
On his "X" social media page, the minister writes that the clashes between ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) personnel and protesters pose a threat to national security.
"To support the federal law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles, the Department of Defense has begun deploying the National Guard. If the unrest continues, the marines will also be mobilized in a high state of combat readiness," — declared Hegset.
For the record, mass arrests of illegal immigrants began across the city on Friday. By Saturday, 44 people were detained for violating immigration laws. In response to these actions, mass protests erupted in the city.
