On June 11, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received a delegation led by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development President Odile Renaud-Basso on the eve of the third session of the Foreign Investors Council. The President's press service reported this.
Issues of further expanding strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and this prestigious international financial institution were discussed.
The satisfaction with the expanding portfolio of joint projects was noted: EBRD's investments in Uzbekistan exceeded 5.5 billion euros. This year, it is planned to attract an additional 1.1 billion euros, with a significant portion aimed at supporting the private sector.
The partnership strategy is being effectively implemented. The banking sector is being transformed with active assistance from the EBRD.
The head of our state emphasized the importance of increasing the effectiveness of cooperation, highlighting its main priority directions.
These directions include technologically modernizing the water supply system, promoting a program to improve energy efficiency, developing the mortgage market and infrastructure of free economic zones, expanding opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, and supporting women's entrepreneurship.
Special attention was devoted to advancing public-private partnership projects in education and healthcare, implementing artificial intelligence, and supporting startups focused on digital transformation.
Thoughts were also exchanged regarding the agenda of the upcoming third session of the Foreign Investors Council.
