The national dish of So'qoq village in Parkent district of Tashkent region — “So'qoq samsa” has been registered as a geographical indication by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The ministry reports about this.
This product is distinguished by its unique natural ingredients, particularly, a plant known among people as «mador» or spinach, which grows only in the So'qoq mountains, as well as its distinct taste and the unique way its dough is prepared.
Its registration as a geographical indication: marks the “So'qoq samsa” as being specific to the So'qoq region, protecting its quality, historical roots, and cultural value from a legal perspective.
The registration process was facilitated with the help of the Tashkent regional department of justice.
