In the Bukhara region, a mother who attempted to sell her baby for 10 million UZS has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. This was reported by the Supreme Court’s press secretary Aziz Obidov.

It was reported that citizen N.K., together with an acquaintance from Bukhara, lived and went to Turkey in June 2024 with the intention of working and returned from a foreign country in August 2024, giving birth to a daughter in the same month. She planned to go to Turkey again to work and for this purpose, wanted to sell her child.

On September 4 of the last year, during a rapid action conducted by officers of the Internal Affairs and State Security Services, N.K. was detained while selling her child, born on August 21, 2024, for 10 million UZS.

“The guilty woman's crime was confirmed not only by her own statements but also by the examination of cash, chemical processing and recording of voices, inspection of the crime scene, and seizure of physical evidence, as well as the report, forensic conclusions, and witness statements,” the report states.

The court found N.K. guilty of committing the crime specified under part 3, clause “a” of Article 135 (human trafficking) of the Criminal Code, and sentenced her to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
