The Second Western Military District Court in the Russian Federation has sentenced 184 captured Ukrainian citizens in the Kursk region for the period from December 2024 to June 2025. The publication “Mediazona” reported this.
These cases are fundamentally different from other terrorism cases in Russian courts: all defendants are charged under a single article — "a terrorist act committed by a group leading to severe consequences".
It is reported that on August 6, 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a large-scale military operation in the Kursk region. This action is considered the first such attack since Russia began its aggressive war against Ukraine in February 2022.
