According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, all details regarding military aid with the US, including air defense (AAD) systems, are currently being clarified. This statement resonated after reports of the US unexpectedly halting the delivery of anti-aircraft missiles and precision-guided munitions to Kyiv. Zelensky reported receiving updates on this matter from the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs.
In Washington, however, it was emphasized that this situation is not widespread. According to US Department of State spokesperson Tammy Bruce, “We have not completely stopped weapons deliveries to Ukraine. This is just one instance, one decision. The Pentagon and other structures are still actively engaged in the issue of Ukraine.”
Bruce also mentioned that the delivery of missiles for the Patriot systems to Kyiv will continue.
Previously, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Pentagon had frozen the shipments of anti-aircraft missiles and munitions due to the dwindling reserves of the US Department of Defense.
It was mentioned that among these were weapons stored in Poland, planned to be sent to Ukraine. This decision was put forward at the beginning of June by the Assistant Deputy Secretary of Defense for the US, Elbridge Colby.
