U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had "won a victory" over the BRICS group. He pointed to the absence of Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping at the BRICS summit due to his tough tariff policy, presenting this situation as his foreign economic triumph.
Trump, in his characteristic bravado, stated: "We must not let anyone play games with us. The so-called BRICS group is just a small association of six countries. I hit them hard. They wanted to challenge the dollar and U.S. dominance. I said I’d impose a 10% tariff. The next day, they didn’t show up to the meeting. Very strange, right?"
In his view, the tariffs served as economic pressure on BRICS countries, preventing them from attending the summit directly. Trump emphasized that this move has hindered BRICS expansion.
Meanwhile, the BRICS group itself is currently working on creating an alternative to the dominance of the U.S. dollar in the global financial system. However, Trump claims that his actions have slowed these efforts and maintained the superiority of the Western alliance.
