America addressed Hezbollah: "Words are not enough, weapons must be surrendered"

The United States' special envoy for Syria and ambassador in Ankara made a statement regarding the disarmament of Hezbollah.

In his address published on his "X" social media page, he called on the Lebanese government and the "Hezbollah" movement to take decisive actions, stating: "When Hezbollah is armed, nothing can be achieved with mere words. On this issue, a firm decision and practical action are now necessary."

According to Barak's words, the credibility of the Lebanese government depends precisely on the alignment between principles and practice. He once again emphasized that "weapons must only be under state control."

The American diplomat reminded the Lebanese leadership of the proposal previously put forward by the U.S.: on June 19, the U.S. had asked the Lebanese government to prioritize the handover of all weapons in the country exclusively to state control.

In an interview with the "Al Arabiya" TV channel on June 27, Barak expressed the following opinion: "Hezbollah's military wing must be completely dismantled. Not its political wing, but specifically its military structure is absolutely unacceptable. A clear deadline for disarmament must be set, for example, they must withdraw north of the Litani River."

However, "Hezbollah" sharply responded to these pressures. The movement's Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, stated during the Ashura ceremony on July 6: "As long as Israel does not stop its aggressions against Lebanon, we will not hand over any weapons."

At the same time, it is noted that tensions in the region are escalating, and the conflict between the U.S. and "Hezbollah" has once again come to the forefront.
