American President Donald Trump prefers to communicate with world leaders in an unconventional style, bypassing traditional diplomatic norms. This was reported by Politico, citing its sources.

According to the report, Trump speaks directly with leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu via his personal phone. He personally gives his number to some leaders, telling them to "call anytime," or he calls them himself.

Sources say that especially with Macron, Trump has developed a "very warm and unusual" relationship. "It was funny and amusing—Trump would say, 'Emmanuel-l-l!' and Macron would respond, 'Donald-d-d!' That’s how they addressed each other," a Politico source said.

The publication notes that world leaders have had to adapt to Trump’s "free" and informal communication style. According to one European official, this approach also helped shift Trump’s stance on NATO.

During the NATO summit in the Netherlands this June, Trump emphasized that the alliance is "not a deception but a real defense guarantee," adding that he understood this after meetings with "big leaders."

Time will tell what political motives lie behind this. But one thing is clear: world leaders now have to not only engage in politics but also say "Donald-d-d" over the phone.
