In the US state of Tennessee, a woman named Linda Archer gave birth to a baby from an embryo created through IVF and frozen for 30 years. This was reported by the publication “MIT Technology Review”.
It is reported that the biological embryo of the baby was created in the 1990s. At that time, the woman had been unable to conceive for six years. Doctors created four embryos, one of which was transferred to Linda's uterus. Six months later, the woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl. The remaining three embryos were frozen.
Initially, the woman intended to use the embryos herself, but later decided to donate them to other families. Most clinics refused to work with her embryos because they had been frozen using outdated technology.
As a result, the Pierce family from Ohio "adopted" one of her embryos through the Open Hearts program. They welcomed a baby boy on July 26, 2025. He was the "oldest baby ever born."
“We had a difficult birth, but now everything is fine. We still can’t believe we have such a calm, precious child,” says Lindsay.
The embryo's original owner, Linda Archer, stated that she currently does not wish to meet the baby but called his birth a “dream come true.”
