Syria's interim government is planning to put into circulation banknotes in a denominated national currency. This was reported by “Reuters”.
It is reported that "Goznak" has previously printed banknotes for Syria.
New banknotes will be issued in Syria, with two zeros removed from the weakened pound in order to restore confidence in it.
According to two sources of the publication, the country's interim government has reached an agreement with Russia's "Goznak" company to develop the new banknotes. According to their information, the relevant deal was reached at the end of July of this year during a visit of a Syrian delegation to Moscow.
Also, a change of power occurred in Syria in 2024. At the end of November last year, armed detachments of the opposition launched an attack on the positions of the Syrian army, captured the country's second most important city, Aleppo, and entered Damascus on December 8. Bashar al-Assad handed over his presidential powers and left the country. Ahmad al-Shara, the head of the new Syrian administration, was proclaimed interim president on January 29 of this year.
