In the United States, Gannon Ken Van Dyke, a military serviceman who participated in the operation related to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, has been detained. He is accused of using classified information to earn over 400 thousand dollars through betting.
According to investigation data, Van Dyke placed more than 33 thousand dollars in bets on the Polymarket platform regarding forecasts related to Maduro's removal from office and capture. As a result, he obtained profits exceeding 409 thousand dollars.
Federal authorities accuse him of illegally using classified information, fraud, and theft of government data. It has also been noted that he attempted to change his account and email addresses in order to conceal his income.
US President Donald Trump commented on this situation, stating that "the whole world has become, in a sense, a casino."
According to reports, Maduro was captured by US forces in Caracas and subsequently taken to New York. He has been charged with narco-terrorism and other serious crimes.
