76-year-old French actor Gérard Depardieu is accused of sexual assault against his colleague Charlotte Arnould in 2018. The actress claims that Depardieu raped her twice at his Paris home.
An investigation was opened after a new complaint was filed in 2020, and in 2024, the Paris prosecutor's office requested the case go to trial. Depardieu denies the allegations, stating the relations were "consensual." However, the prosecution indicated that there is "serious and corroborated evidence."
If the court finds him guilty, the actor could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison. Earlier this year, in May, Depardieu was found guilty in another criminal case and sentenced to 18 months of probation.
