Reports have spread on social networks about a young man known as Abdullah Domla being imprisoned for "liking" a lecture by Abdurani Umarov that was posted six years ago. The courts of the Surkhandarya region provided information regarding the situation.
According to the statement, the accused U.A., using the "Odnoklassniki.ru" messenger installed on his phone, distributed a "like" on the lecture titled "Lovers of Paradise," which is filled with the ideologist ideas of Abdurani Umarov (Abdullah Domla), to his virtual friends in the "Liked" section of his opened account in 2019.
By this, he committed the crime provided for in sub-paragraph "g" of part 3 of Article 2441 (preparation, storage, distribution, or display of materials posing a threat to public safety and public order) of the current Criminal Code.
According to the July 1, 2025, verdict of the Kumkorgan District Court on criminal cases, U.A. was found guilty of committing the crime provided for in sub-paragraph "g" of part 3 of Article 2441 of the Criminal Code. Under this article, Article 57 of the Criminal Code was applied to him, sentencing him to deprivation of liberty for a term of 3 years, and it was determined that the sentence be served in a general regime penal colony.
Due to the gravity of the crime committed by the accused U.A., a punishment related to deprivation of liberty was imposed on him.
"Nevertheless, taking into account mitigating circumstances, Article 57 of the Criminal Code was applied to him, and a sentence shorter than the sanction of the article was imposed," the report says.
