The entire city of Belgorod was left without electricity after a heat and power plant was hit.
On the evening of September 28, several powerful explosions occurred, reportedly resulting in the shutdown of the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant and the Luch power station. Following the incident, electricity, water, and internet were cut off throughout the city, and public transport and traffic lights stopped working. The majority of shops closed or are operating on a cash-only basis.
Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that the strike caused serious problems with the infrastructure and stated that essential facilities have been connected to backup power generation.
