Those who save shameless videos of children may be held criminally liable. This is mentioned for the first time in the draft law "On introducing changes and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the improvement of the system for protecting children from bullying," which was initially considered at a meeting of the Senate Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports Issues.
It is reported that liability will be increased in the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Responsibility for committing shameless acts using telecommunications networks or the Internet against a person under the age of 16.
Administrative liability is established for storing pornographic videos depicting minors for the purpose of distribution, and criminal liability if repeated within a year.
Furthermore, the institution of a legal representative for a minor witness is being introduced in order to strengthen the guarantees of the rights of minor participants. The total duration of questioning a minor witness or victim during one day should not exceed, taking into account the age and condition of the minor: for children up to 7 years old - 30 minutes without breaks, total 1 hour; for children from 7 to 14 years old - 1 hour without breaks, total 2 hours; for children from 14 to 18 years old - 2 hours without breaks, total 4 hours.
During the discussion, senators emphasized that this draft law will serve to prevent crimes, ensure the inevitability of punishment for crimes committed, and also protect the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of children. At the end of the meeting, a corresponding decision of the committee was adopted on the issue on the agenda.
