The ranking of districts and cities with the largest populations in Uzbekistan has been announced. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee.

According to the report, as of April 1, 2026, the country's permanent population reached nearly 38.4 million people.

According to statistics, the city of Namangan took first place in the ranking of the most populous areas. Currently, 731,300 people live in the city.

The city of Samarkand is in second place, with 607,600 people living there. The next step is the Urgut district of Samarkand region. The district's population is 588,600.

Also, at the top of the ranking are the city of Andijan (506,000 people) and the Denov district of Surkhandarya region (442,700 people).

Three districts from Tashkent city — Almazar district (419,600 people), Yunusabad district (395,000 people), and Shaykhontohur district (374,600 people) are among the most populous areas of the country.

The list also includes the Pastdargom district of Samarkand region with 401,500 people and the Asaka district of Andijan region with 369,600 people.

Thus, the city of Namangan, leaving behind not only other regional centers but also the largest districts of Tashkent city, was recorded as the most populous area of Uzbekistan.

Earlier, the National Statistics Committee had also announced the region with the largest population by region. According to it, Samarkand region took first place in the republic with a permanent population of 4 million 396,800 people.
