Former US President Donald Trump stated on October 6, in a conversation with journalists, that he had almost made a decision regarding the provision of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. He emphasized that before a decision on the delivery of missiles could be made, it was necessary to determine exactly where Ukraine would deploy them.
"I do not want to escalate this war. I need to know where they plan to use these missiles," said Trump.
According to reports, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a meeting with Trump in New York, requested missiles capable of striking distances of 1,250–2,500 km. Zelenskyy believes this could force Russia to negotiate.
However, according to analysts and sources, US Tomahawk stockpiles are primarily intended for naval military forces, and the likelihood of their delivery to Ukraine is low. Therefore, assistance may continue with shorter-range missiles like ATACMS.
Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that this decision could affect the positive changes in Russia-US relations.
