In the Navoi region, Kyzyltepa district, a man intentionally ran over his ex-wife, who lived there, with a car because she refused to waive child support for their four children.
As a result, the woman sustained severe injuries and became paralyzed from the waist down. Nemalchi.uz reported on this, relying on documents from the regional court.
It is noted that the woman had been regularly beaten by her husband for many years. During the divorce process, on August 12, the court granted the couple a 3-month period and obligated the man to pay alimony for their four minor children.
However, a day later, on August 13, Shahriyar called Zamira and demanded she waive the alimony. After the woman refused, on August 14, Shahriyar ran her over with his Damas car. The victim's spine was broken, her nerve fibers were damaged, and she is currently unable to walk. Her family has gone into debt to cover the heavy costs of her treatment.
The woman's relatives stated that the abusive man has refused to contribute to the treatment costs. A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 266 of the Criminal Code — "Violation of traffic safety rules." However, he has not been arrested so far and continues to threaten Zamira by writing, "nothing good will happen."
Nemalchi.uz strongly condemns this situation and asks questions:
"Why, despite the intentional hitting of the woman, was this attempt not classified as attempted murder? Why has the criminal husband not been arrested? And most importantly — why are the mechanisms for protecting women's lives still weak?"
