A criminal case regarding the explosion that killed 7 members of a family in Samarkand city was considered in the Samarkand city court for criminal cases.

With the help of hired craftsmen, a gas pipe was illegally laid under the road. Before the explosion occurred, homeowners were disturbed by the smell of gas and appealed to the gas service 11 times. However, the organization's officials were inattentive to this.
The head of the Samarkand city department of the "Hududgaz Samarkand" gas supply branch and 3 employees, who were the defendants, were found guilty of committing a crime under part 4, clauses "a" and "b" of Article 116 of the Criminal Code (Improper performance of professional duties resulting in the death of people and other grave consequences).
They were sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions in state-owned enterprises and organizations involving official and material responsibility for a period of 3 years.
Furthermore, nearly 6 billion soums are to be recovered from the gas supply company in favor of the citizens affected by the explosion.
