Houthi rebels in the southwestern part of the capital city Sana'a have detained 20 UN staff members, accusing them of espionage. This was reported by The Guardian.

Among them were 5 Yemeni and 15 foreign staff members. On October 19, 11 of them were released after interrogation. According to reports, this is the second organized raid on a UN building within 24 hours.

According to a UN spokesperson, the Houthis confiscated all communication equipment in the organization's building — phones, servers, and computers.

Among those detained are staff from UNICEF, the World Food Programme (WFP), and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Previously, it was reported that the Houthis had also detained UN staff and confiscated technical equipment on August 31 of this year.
