Egyptian Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashid met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on October 21. Al Arabiya reported this.
It was reported that the purpose of the talks was to strengthen the Gaza peace deal supported by the US.
"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his team of specialists met with the Chief of Egyptian Intelligence at the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem. During the meeting, advancing President Trump's plan, strengthening Israel-Egypt relations, further developing peace between the two countries, and other regional issues were discussed," the statement said.
The discussion is about the Gaza "roadmap," proposed by US President Donald Trump, which includes an initial peace deal. According to Egypt's state-affiliated Extra News outlet, Rashid also met with the US Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Whitcoff, who was in Israel.
Rashid's visit to Jerusalem coincided with a time more than a week after the announced ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began.
