In India's Rajasthan state, a passenger bus on the Jaisalmer–Jodhpur route caught fire, killing at least 20 people. Shortly after it set out, smoke emerged from the rear part, and within minutes the entire bus was engulfed in flames.
The passengers could not escape the rapidly spreading fire, especially those in the rear seats.
Investigators suspect a short circuit in the bus's air conditioning system caused the incident.
The Chief Minister of Rajasthan expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and ordered the formation of a special committee to inspect bus safety.
