US President Donald Trump has arrived in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. This is the first stop of his week-long Asia tour, during which he will participate in summits of two regional organizations (ASEAN in Malaysia and APEC in South Korea) and visit Japan. The main event of his trip is expected to be a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

On Sunday, with the White House leader in attendance, the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia signed an agreement between the two countries, which Trump called a "peace agreement" aimed at ending the military conflict.

According to media reports, the US President demanded that this ceremony be held during the ASEAN summit. This summer, Trump helped stop a war on the Thailand-Cambodia border and claimed it was the eighth such war he had stopped.

According to BBC correspondents, before the signing of the document, the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia agreed not to call it a "peace agreement." The official name of the document was much more subdued: "Joint Declaration on Relations."

According to information leaked to the press, the document outlined only initial steps to ease the severity of the conflict, including the withdrawal of heavy weapons, demarcation of borders, and joint efforts for demining.
