President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, July 14, received a delegation led by the Governor of the Tuscany region of Italy, Eugenio Giani, who arrived in our country on a working visit.
The meeting discussed issues of further developing strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Italy, particularly expanding cooperation in trade-economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Special attention was also paid to activating interregional ties.
The parties noted that in recent years, dialogue between the two countries at all levels has intensified. In particular, since the beginning of this year, the volume of mutual trade has increased by 25 percent. Currently, a number of investment projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan with the participation of leading Italian companies in metallurgy, energy, agriculture, chemical industry, and other sectors.
The President emphasized that there is great potential for developing cooperation with the Tuscany region in the fields of textiles, leather and footwear, food processing, jewelry, construction, education, culture, and tourism.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to develop and adopt a joint "roadmap" that includes new projects and initiatives aimed at further expanding cooperation between the Tuscany region and the regions of Uzbekistan.
