US President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Defense to immediately begin nuclear weapons testing. He wrote about this on his Truth Social network.
According to Trump, the United States must act "on an equal basis with other nuclear powers." Emphasizing the existence of the largest nuclear arsenal in the country, he wrote that this decision was made because "there was no other option."
Washington made this decision after Russia announced tests of its "Burevestnik" missile. The US has been observing a moratorium on nuclear tests since 1992. Trump's decision is expected to cause sharp debates in the international community.
