The narrow-format talks between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow were held at the Kuksaroy residence. The parties assessed this state visit as an important step in developing the relations of friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership, which have been strengthening in recent years.
The meeting noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics in relations between the two states. It was emphasized that meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, as well as cultural events, are held regularly. It was stated that the recent Days of Culture of Turkmenistan held in Urgench and Tashkent were of great importance for the development of cooperation.
It was reported that last year, the trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $1 billion, and the volume of freight traffic is also increasing, in particular, the use of the Turkmenbashi port has intensified.
The negotiations paid special attention to increasing mutual trade and strengthening cooperation in the fields of industry, energy, transport, mechanical engineering, agriculture, and water management.
The importance of expanding interregional exchanges was also emphasized, and an agreement was reached to hold the third Regions Forum in the city of Khiva.
The parties also exchanged views on issues of regional and international importance.
