In the early parliamentary elections held in Kyrgyzstan on November 30, supporters of Japarov gained an advantage. According to the Central Election Commission, at least 50 out of 90 seats could go to deputies from the previous convocation.
Voter turnout, as of 19:00 local time, exceeded 34 percent. The new electoral system was applied for the first time based on amendments introduced into legislation in June 2025.
According to it, the country is divided into 30 constituencies, with three deputies elected from each, at least one of whom must be a woman.
A week before the elections, the arrest of a number of opposition figures, including the son of former president Almazbek Atambayev and members of the Social Democratic Party, indicated a sharpening of the political situation in the country.
According to officials, they were planning to organize mass protests after the election results were announced.
