The "Dunyo" reports that with the assistance of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in Thailand, citizens of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan who found themselves in a difficult situation in Myanmar have been successfully repatriated.
A group of our compatriots appealed to the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Bangkok for help in returning to their homeland after becoming victims of human trafficking in Myanmar.
According to the applicants, they came to Thailand with a high-paying job offer found on the internet. They were provided with free air tickets from Uzbekistan. However, upon arriving in Thailand, they were illegally taken to the territory of Myanmar through deception and fell into the hands of criminal groups engaged in human trafficking. There, they were forced to work in fraudulent call centers. Citizens who refused to carry out illegal activities were subjected to physical violence and threats.
It was also established that citizens of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan found themselves in a similar situation in Myanmar. Taking into account that Kyrgyzstan does not have a diplomatic mission in Thailand, at the request of the neighboring state, diplomats from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan provided practical assistance in organizing the repatriation of these citizens as well.
As a result of coordinated actions and negotiations with the competent authorities of Myanmar and Thailand, the citizens of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan were released and handed over to diplomats from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan at the Mae Sot (Thailand) border checkpoint. The released individuals were provided with temporary accommodation and food.
On December 9, 2025, with the assistance of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in Thailand, citizens of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan were successfully repatriated to their homeland.
