According to the embassy, during 2025, complaints have been received from Uzbeks working in Croatia and Serbia regarding non-payment or delays in wages, problems related to residence and work permits, and instances of unjustified additional fees being charged for document processing. It has also been noted that some employers threaten deportation in case of refusing work.
The embassy stated that many problems arise as a result of going abroad and finding employment through illegal intermediaries. Therefore, citizens are advised to seek work only through private employment agencies that have a license from the Agency for External Labor Migration under the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment.
It was also reminded not to transfer money to unlicensed individuals, not to work illegally on non-work visas, and of the necessity to have the employment contract translated into an understandable language and to carefully study its terms before signing. In case of problems, it was requested to contact the consular department of the embassy.
