A service check has been appointed regarding the judges who released Akmal Shukurov from prison. The Supreme Judicial Council reported this.
It is noted that the service check has been initiated to clarify the circumstances related to the consideration of this case in the appellate instance of the Tashkent City Court. The inspection is being carried out by the Supreme Judicial Council.
It was previously reported that Akmal Shukurov, who had beaten a man in front of a nightclub and knocked him into a coma, was released on December 9, 2025, by a ruling of the appellate court.
We remind you that later the Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office lodged a protest against this decision through a review procedure. The review panel satisfied the protest and, by partially adding penalties, sentenced Shukurov to 6 years of imprisonment. Taking into account the time served in prison, a remaining sentence of 5 years, 3 months, and 12 days was left for him.
