The accident occurred near the city of Adamuz in the province of Córdoba, approximately 360 kilometers south of Madrid. The 27-year-old train driver, who was traveling from Madrid to the city of Huelva, was also killed. It was noted that there were a total of 317 passengers on the two trains.
Since January is not considered a tourist season, it is currently unclear how many tourists were among the passengers on the trains.
