Canadian-American actress, director, and screenwriter Catherine O'Hara has passed away at the age of 71. This was reported by the publication Variety.
It is reported that the actress died on January 30 at her home in Los Angeles after a short illness.
Catherine O'Hara was born on March 4, 1954, in Toronto. She first appeared on screen in 1979 on the television show Canada After Dark. In the early years of her career, she was primarily involved in voice acting for cartoons.
The actress became widely known for the 1990 film "Home Alone" and the 1992 film "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York." In these films, she portrayed the mother of Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin.
She also played the role of Delia Deetz in the film "Beetlejuice" and its 2024 sequel. Among the actress's other famous works are the films "After Hours," "Best in Show," as well as the series "Schitt’s Creek," "The Last of Us," and "The Studio."
During her nearly 50-year creative career, Catherine O'Hara won two Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.
