The policy of absolute intolerance towards violence against children is being strengthened in Uzbekistan. According to a new order signed by the Minister of Preschool and School Education, educators who commit violence against children in educational institutions can be dismissed.
According to "Xalq Ta'lim Info," this order was adopted to ensure the implementation of the law "On Protection of Children from All Forms of Violence." The document approves updated versions of the ethical rules, internal labor regulations, and job descriptions for staff of educational institutions.
Based on the order, teachers and other staff are obliged not to commit violence against children and to report children who have suffered violence to the relevant authorities. These requirements are also included in employment contracts.
It is noted that violence against children will be assessed as a gross one-time violation of labor duties, and this circumstance will serve as grounds for termination of the employment contract at the initiative of the employer.
Furthermore, if a teacher is proven to have committed violence not only against students but also against colleagues, they can be dismissed at the initiative of the school director.
In addition, regional departments of preschool and school education have been tasked with appointing responsible persons to prevent violence against children in educational institutions.
