Kumarbek Abdyrov was arrested in September 2025 on charges of raping and murdering 17-year-old Oisuluu Mukasheva. During the investigation, he confessed to raping and killing several women. It was reported that he worked as a taxi driver and primarily killed his victims on the outskirts of the city and in mountainous areas.
According to information, Abdyrov had previously been held criminally liable, having been sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2016 for attempted murder; later his sentence was reduced, and he was released early in 2018.
This case has caused widespread public discussion. Furthermore, three former judges and one prosecutor from the Bishkek City Court, who were involved in Abdyrov's early release, have also been arrested.
