On March 3, Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals aimed at strengthening the protection of women's and children's rights. According to it, additional financial support mechanisms will be introduced in the country to encourage marriages to be formed between individuals who have reached the age of 21.
It is noted that 40 percent of marriages in our country are formed between 18-19 year olds. However, international organizations recommend 21 years as the most favorable age for marriage. At this age, individuals typically achieve financial independence and are comprehensively prepared to start a family.
Based on this, a number of initiatives were put forward. Including:
• Introducing financial support to encourage marriages between those who have reached 21 years of age;
• Encouraging the conclusion of marriage contracts through the provision of state duty privileges;
• Establishing a procedure to give 15 percent of the fine for violating legislation related to marriageable age to the person who reported it;
• Implementing a mandatory reporting system to internal affairs bodies and "Inson" social service centers regarding cases of early marriage and pregnancy up to the age of 16;
• Creating opportunities for pregnant female students or those raising a child under 3 years old to continue their education.
It is reported that the head of state approved these initiatives and signed the relevant decree. Furthermore, responsible persons have been given instructions on widely promoting the new provisions among the public.
